China Dismisses Trump’s Fresh Election Interference Claims As ‘Fabrications’

China has rejected fresh claims by United States President Donald Trump that it interfered in US elections, describing the allegations as “pure fabrications” and “malicious smears.”

Trump, during a White House address on Thursday, alleged that China had illegally obtained the personal data of 220 million American voters and said he would declassify intelligence to support the claim.

He also renewed his criticism of the US electoral system, arguing it had been dangerously compromised, and called on lawmakers to introduce stricter voting measures ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

Responding on Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian dismissed Trump’s allegations, insisting Beijing has never interfered in American elections.

“The relevant claims made by the US side are pure fabrications and malicious smears that have long since been proven to be groundless,” Lin said during a regular press briefing.

He added that China has “no interest in the US election and has never interfered in it.”

Lin also accused Washington of frequently interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and urged the US to stop using China as a political issue during its elections.

“We urge the US side to reflect on its own actions, stop baselessly smearing China, refrain from making an issue of China in its elections, and do more to benefit China-US relations,” he said.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that the 2020 US presidential election was “rigged,” despite courts, election audits, recounts, and investigations by his own Justice Department finding no evidence of widespread fraud capable of altering the election outcome.
