The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Umuahia Nigeria Stake, on Saturday embarked on the cutting of bushes and cleaning of the headquarters of Abia State Hospital Management Board compound that has been overgrown with weeds and infested with reptiles.
The church has pleaded with the government to look into environmental cleanliness, as some members escaped snake bites.
Speaking after the occasion in partnership with Hallowed Outreach Worldwide Foundation, the Stake President of Umuahia Nigeria’s Stake, James Ogbuisi, said, “We selected Abia State Hospital Management Board compound to contribute our little quota of service to humanity and we are not alone here today. The major primary objective of this is to contribute to humanity’s service.
“We identified this place because we saw the very bushy condition of the premises, which is not healthy for those who come here for medical treatment, and we felt it would be very necessary for us to clean it up. And then not just clean it up also, maybe, to plead with the government to look into what is happening here.”
Also speaking, the Residence Pastor, Hallowed Chapel, Accra, Ghana, and Coordinator of Hallowed Outreach Worldwide Foundation West Africa, Pastor Kanu Ezechi, said cleaning is next to Godliness, adding that the bodies they decided to act on the facility is not only being used by the government, but individuals, the citizenry.
The community service by the church was in partnership with the Abia State Environmental Sanitation Agency, ASEPA, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.
