Osun ALGON Cautions Adeleke On Directive To Security Agencies

Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State chapter, has cautioned the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, not to induce violence in the state through his alleged ill-interpretation of court processes and judgement.

The governor had called on security operatives to provide security for political functionaries elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2025 on resumption of duties following the dismissal of a suit filed by the chairmen and councilors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking the determination of their tenure in office by the Federal High Court, Osogbo.

Addressing newsmen in Osogbo, Barrister Adegoke Ogunsola on behalf of Osun ALGON said the judgement has been appealed adding that until the determination of the appeal, the status quo remains.

“To set the record straight, the judgment of the FHC that they want to utilize to enthrone themselves is subject of appeal with an application for stay of execution dated and filed on 16th June, 2026 and which have been served on the parties.

Meanwhile, Osun State Police command has warned parties involved in the matter against extrajudicial actions that will jeopardize the existing peace in the state.

A statement made available to newsmen on Friday by the state police public relations officer, DSP Abiodun advised parties in the matter to strictly comply with the established legal procedures when seeking to enforce judgements.

The statement read in part: “The attention of Osun Police Command has been drawn to the rising tension with recent judgement delivered by the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo over the local government dispute.

“The command is closely monitoring the conduct, statements, and actions of all parties involved. It is pertinent to note that, there is a legal laid down procedure for the execution of court judgements with due consideration to right of appeal. The rule of law remains the foundation of our democratic society; therefore, all parties are enjoined to strictly comply with the established legal procedures when seeking to enforce judgements.”

The command further warned that it will not hesitate to take decisive action against any individual or group that attempts to disrupt the peace or violate the law, while assuring the public of its unwavering commitment to ensuring a peaceful environment where the rule of law prevails.
