The family of late Nollywood actor and comedian John Ikechukwu Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu has opened up about the difficult situation they have faced since his death.
Speaking during a recent visit by content creator King Mitchy, the family revealed that Mr Ibu’s only daughter and two sons have dropped out of school due to their financial situation.
According to the family, they have also been living without electricity and running water for weeks because they cannot afford the bills.
The children’s mother disclosed that life has been difficult for them.
“We fetched water from the well because I have not paid the house rent, they even cut my light since two months now, no light since we have been like that every night we go to look for where to charge our phones and it’s not easy, she said.
Mr Ibu’s daughter, while appealing to Nigerians for assistance, praised her mother for her efforts in caring for the family.
“I want to thank God for my mom,, and she tried everything she can to feed us, pay our school, fees make us happy.
“So Nigerians if you were in the industry with my dad, you’re seeing us now come and meet us,” she pleaded.
Holding back her tears, the children’s mother also revealed that the school recently sent her a message regarding the children’s outstanding school fees.
Recall that in November 2023, Okafor underwent a leg amputation after suffering from an illness that required seven surgeries.
He, however, died in Lagos on 2 March 2024 at the age of 62 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
