Investigation is underway to establish the cause of the crash that claimed four lives on the R555 Road between eMalahleni and Middleburg in Mpumalanga.
Four people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the R555 road on Monday night. This comes after an articulated truck allegedly lost control and collided with another vehicle.
The truck immediately caught fire.
Seven other vehicles collided, leading to the temporary closure of the road.
Provincial Community Safety, Security, and Liaison spokesperson Moeti Mmusi says five other people sustained serious injuries.
“The injured are currently receiving medical treatment at the nearby hospitals in eMalahleni and Middelburg. The crash involves 9 vehicles, including an articulated truck, 4 light delivery vehicles (LDVs), and one SUV and other motor vehicles. The investigation into this crash is already underway.” -Reporting by Michael Mdluli
