The Federal Government’s plan to recruit 50,000 constables into the Nigeria Police Force became reality on Wednesday when the Police Service Commission ,PSC, released the names of successful applicants in the ongoing recruitment exercise.
The PSC announced on Wednesday that candidates who participated in the recently concluded written examination can check their recruitment status on the official recruitment portal, npfapplication.psc.
According to the PSC, successful applicants will also receive notifications through the email addresses and telephone numbers they provided during the application process.
The commission said the release of the names followed the successful conclusion of a comprehensive and transparent recruitment exercise conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Character Commission, the Ministry of Police Affairs, the States Career and Counselling Departments, and the Police Community Relations Committee.
It noted that the multi-agency approach was designed to ensure fairness, credibility, and compliance with the Federal Character principle throughout the recruitment process.
The PSC advised candidates who sat for the written examination to log on to the recruitment portal from Thursday to confirm whether they were successful and follow subsequent instructions issued by the Commission.
The PSC disclosed that successful applicants would, in due course, be informed of the dates, times, and designated Police Training Institutions where they are expected to report for documentation and medical examination before the commencement of training.
It warned that candidates who fail to report within the stipulated period would be deemed to have declined the offer of appointment.
The Commission further stated that applicants who fail the mandatory medical examination to be conducted by the Police Medical Team upon resumption at their training institutions would be declared medically unfit and would not be allowed to continue with the programme.
According to the PSC, successful candidates are required to report with their training call-up slips, National Identification Number (NIN) slips, Bank Verification Number (BVN) slips, original and photocopies of their educational certificates, as well as other documents and items that will be specified on the recruitment portal.
Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Salihu Argungu, thanked President Bola Tinubu for approving the recruitment exercise targeting 50,000 Police Constables, describing the initiative as a significant investment in Nigeria’s security architecture.
Argungu said the recruitment would help strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force at a time the country continues to confront complex security challenges requiring increased manpower and improved policing.
He urged the successful applicants to regard their selection as a clarion call to national service, stressing that they must serve the country with dignity, discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment.
According to him, the opportunity comes with enormous responsibility, and the new entrants must uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force while contributing to efforts to safeguard lives and property across Nigeria.
