Super Eagles defender Sadiq Ismail is reportedly closing in on a move to Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Kano Pillars.
The right-back has reportedly linked up with the Sai Masu Gida at their pre-season training camp in Katsina as negotiations over a possible transfer continue.
Ismail is no stranger to success in the NPFL, having played an important role in Remo Stars’ title-winning campaign during the 2024/25 season.
His performances during that historic campaign earned him the Remo Stars Player of the Season award and further enhanced his reputation as one of the promising defenders in Nigerian domestic football.
Kano Pillars, now under the guidance of coach Daniel Ogunmodede, are keen to strengthen their squad ahead of the new NPFL season, and Ismail’s experience is expected to add quality and competition to their defensive options.
The defender’s ability to operate at right-back, coupled with his experience at the top level of Nigerian football, is expected to make him an important addition to the Kano-based club.
While the transfer is yet to be formally announced, discussions are understood to be at an advanced stage, with the move expected to be completed before the start of the new NPFL season.
