Nigerian indigenous oil and gas company, Ingentia Energies Limited (IEL), has appointed seasoned energy industry professional, Victor Agbaroji, as its new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, effective Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
The appointment signals a new phase in the company’s leadership and growth strategy, with Agbaroji pledging to consolidate existing achievements while driving the company towards greater operational efficiency, innovation and value creation.

Agbaroji formally assumed leadership of the company at an unveiling ceremony held in Lagos, marking the transition from outgoing Interim Managing Director, Charles Odita, who led Ingentia Energies over the past six months.
Reflecting on his tenure from March to August 2026, Odita described the period as both exciting and productive, noting that the company recorded significant milestones under his leadership.
“It is my privilege today to hand over the affairs of Ingentia Energies Limited to the incoming Managing Director, Victor Agbaroji,” Odita said.
“The company has achieved a lot within the last six months. It is our desire that the new Managing Director will take us to the next level, and I am confident that, as an industry veteran, he will hit the ground running and accelerate the company’s growth trajectory.”
In his acceptance remarks, Agbaroji commended the achievements recorded during Odita’s tenure and expressed his determination to build on the foundation already laid.
He said the immediate priority of the new management would be to consolidate and sustain the gains made by the company while maintaining its growth momentum within Nigeria’s increasingly competitive indigenous energy sector.
“Our immediate focus is to consolidate and sustain the gains we have made. Ingentia Energies has set the pace among its peers in growing the company since the acquisition of its licence, and we intend to maintain that momentum,” Agbaroji said.
He stressed that the company would place strong emphasis on its workforce, safety, talent development, innovation and cost competitiveness as key pillars of its growth strategy.

“We hold in high esteem our company’s greatest assets – our people – while recognising the importance of safety, talent development, innovation and cost competitiveness. IEL will ensure that our people work safely and return home to their loved ones every day,” he said.
Agbaroji added that the company would continue to invest in developing talent, improving operational efficiency and embracing innovative approaches to value creation while delivering sustainable returns to shareholders and other stakeholders.
He also reaffirmed Ingentia Energies’ commitment to supporting Nigeria’s broader energy ambitions, including the national target of increasing crude oil production to three million barrels per day.
“We will continue to develop talents, improve efficiency, embrace innovative ways of creating value, and deliver strong returns to our shareholders and stakeholders while affirming our commitment to supporting Nigeria’s energy aspirations,” he stated.
Agbaroji brings more than 31 years of experience across the oil and gas value chain to his new role.
He began his career as a well test engineer, working across several fields before joining Shell as a Reservoir Engineer. Over the course of his career, he held several strategic positions spanning operations engineering, corporate petroleum engineering, corporate planning and economics.
His contributions included portfolio optimisation initiatives that supported the growth and emergence of Nigeria’s indigenous marginal field operators.
Agbaroji also served as Front-End Development Manager for major gas projects, including gas supply initiatives supporting fertilizer production.
At the international level, he served as Global Operations Manager for Reserves Reporting across the Shell Group, overseeing activities across Asia, Europe, Australia and North America.
He later moved into Nigeria’s independent oil sector, where he brought international operational and management experience to indigenous energy companies.
Before joining Ingentia Energies, Agbaroji led technical advisory, risk management and project delivery support services for emerging energy companies.
Industry stakeholders at the Lagos unveiling expressed confidence that his extensive technical, commercial and strategic experience would strengthen Ingentia Energies’ position and support its ambitions for sustained growth.
With the appointment, Ingentia Energies enters a new chapter under Agbaroji’s leadership, as the indigenous oil and gas company seeks to build on recent progress and deepen its contribution to Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape.
