The inquest findings at the KuGompo Regional Court sitting at Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape are expected to be handed over to the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) for a decision on whether criminal proceedings against the five implicated people will be instituted.
Speaking for the families is the parent of one of the deceased young people Khululekile Ncandana, “Our message to the NPA we are saying that they should make sure harsher sentences are put forward to those who are responsible. If it’s not harsh to them, it will be a mess if an example is not done on those that were found to be responsible for this.”
