ADC Tasks President Tinubu To Rescue Other Victims Still In Captivity

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has challenged President Bola Tinubu to extend the same security resolve that secured the rescue of abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State, to other Nigerians who remain in captivity across Kwara, Borno and other parts of the country.

The party was reacting to the president’s remarks on Thursday while receiving traditional rulers from Oyo State, led by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

In a statement by the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said that the successful operation in Oyo should not be treated as a special case but a general standard in responding to kidnapping cases, regardless of what part of the country it occurred or the language that the victims speak.

Bolaji questioned why the Federal Government has not applied the intelligence network, the operational capacity and the political resolve used to bring the victims in Oriire home without the kidnappers demands to rescue hundreds of victims in captivity, two weeks after the rescue of the Oyo school victims.

The ADC called on the president to use the “No deal.” Approach in demonstrating equal resolve and send equally unmistakable message to raise the hope of the victims’families that the government has not forgotten them.
