The Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area in Rivers state, Obarilomate Ollor, has constituted an investigation panel to look into allegations of forceful and unlawful acquisition of lands in the Area.
The Chairman had earlier suspended real estate activities in the area as a preemptive strategy.
Announcing the constitution of the panel led by Chief Obo, the Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area in Rivers State, Obarilomate Ollor said the job of the committee is to investigate and interface with individuals and communities affected in the alleged act of forceful acquisition or encroachment on their lands and make recommendations to the local government council.
Ollormate further reeled out the details and the date of commencement for the panel hearing and urged all affected individuals and communities to submit petitions and documents proving ownership of the land in the areas.
The Chairman had during an earlier press briefing on 2nd July 2026, announced the suspension of all activities of real estate companies in Eleme LGA in order to de-escalate tension in the area.
