American jazz singer, Cassandra Wilson dies at 70

Grammy Award-winning American jazz songstress, Cassandra Wilson, is dead.

The singer died at 70 on Wednesday September 2, 2026, at her hometown, Jackson, Mississippi.

Announcing the news of her passing in a statement released by her management, Robert Torre, her manager, said she “transitioned peacefully at home, surrounded by family, close friends, and her manager”.

While asking the public for privacy, Torre did not disclose the cause of her death.
