The African National Congress (ANC) in the North West has expelled five councillors in the Maquassi Hills local municipality.
The group, which includes Mayor Mzwandile Feliti, was found guilty of defying the party’s mandate and conniving with opposition parties to execute their responsibilities at the municipality.
The ANC Deputy Regional Chairperson in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda municipality, Zanele Mphafudi, confirms that the councillors faced six charges. were preferred against the councillors.
“All of the charges relate mainly to issues of defiance and conniving with the opposition. They were subjected in the process, they were represented and a disciplinary hearing was concluded, which found them guilty. Now, we as the ANC have decided that they will be expelled for a period of two years.”
