The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Waidi Shaibu, has inaugurated a new helipad at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna, aimed at reducing the time required to evacuate wounded soldiers from operational areas for critical medical care.
The helipad was among several projects commissioned by the Army Chief to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the welfare of troops and their families.
The new facility is expected to provide faster access to specialised medical care for soldiers wounded during military operations across the country.
According to the Chief of Army Staff, reducing evacuation time could significantly improve the chances of survival for personnel requiring urgent treatment.
The Army Chief also inaugurated a remodelled critical care centre equipped with modern medical equipment for treating critically ill and injured personnel.
A 30-patient transit accommodation facility was also commissioned at the hospital, while 12 two-bedroom and six three-bedroom flats for married officers were inaugurated at Ribadu Cantonment.
The Army noted that improved medical services, accommodation and other welfare facilities are essential to sustaining the morale and operational effectiveness of troops.
