A combined team of police, military personnel, and local security operatives has arrested four suspected kidnappers and rescued two abducted victims in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The suspects — identified as Mainasara Alh. Umaru, 23; Buba Alh. Umaru, 20; and Muhammadu Usman, 19 — were arrested at Kuka Village in the Duguri District of Alkaleri following intelligence-led operations conducted on June 2, 2026.
The operation also led to the rescue of two victims abducted by armed men from Kwarin Gadali Hamlet in Pali District of the same local government area.
The assailants had reportedly invaded a residence and whisked away a 40-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son to an unknown location.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Command, SP Nafiu Habib, said operatives from the Pali Outstation swiftly launched a coordinated response after receiving a distress report.
According to him, the operation recorded a breakthrough on June 3, 2026, when the officer in charge of the Pali Outstation arrested one of the suspects, who allegedly confessed and provided useful intelligence on the whereabouts of the victims.
“Leveraging the confession, operatives extended their dragnet and arrested another suspect, identified as Ahmadu Umaru of Dalgade,” the statement said.
The police said the victims were rescued unharmed and taken to the General Hospital, Alkaleri, for medical examination and treatment.
He added that all arrested suspects are currently in custody, while the case has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the inter-agency collaboration that led to the successful operation, describing it as effective and timely.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes, assuring residents that perpetrators would be brought to justice.
The police also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to aid crime prevention across the state.
