Borough councillor resignation in Wreake Valley ward – Latest News – News Updates

Cllr Laurie Needham, a ward member for Wreake Valley, resigned from Charnwood Borough Council on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.

Cllr Needham (Green Party) was the Leader of the Green Group on Charnwood Borough Council and elected to the Council following the local borough elections in 2019.

A notice of vacancy for the seat in the Wreake Valley ward has been issued and it is anticipated a by election will be called in due course.

Until a new councillor is elected, residents with any ward-related issues in the Wreake Valley ward can contact ward councillors Chris O’Neill and Sandra Woodward.

The new Green Group Leader is Cllr Naomi Bottomley, and the Deputy Green Group Leader is Cllr Steve Bellamy.
