Gov Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has approved the employment of 1,095 medical and allied health science students on training in higher institutions of learning within and outside the country.
This is contained in a statement by Buni’s Director-General Press and Media Affairs Alhaji Mamman Mohammed in Damaturu on Tuesday.
Mohammed said 294 medical students would be employed on Grade Level (GL) 7/2, while 801 Allied Health Science Students would be placed on GL 05/2.
He noted that the employment would cushion the suffering of parents and guardians on payment of school fees and other necessary academic requirements.
“This is to serve as an incentive to support the students to pursue their courses of study with vigour and commitment, and to serve in government health facilities after completion of their studies,” the aide said.
Mohammed said the governor also approved the implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) and Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) to the eight state-owned tertiary institutions and other Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
He listed the benefitting institutions to include College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Gujba, Galtima Mai Kyari College of Health Science and Technology Nguru, Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery Damaturu.
Others are College of Administration, Management and Technology, Potiskum, Mai Idris Alooma Polytechnic Geidam, Atiku Abubakar College of Education and Legal Studies Nguru, Umar Sulieman College of Education Gashua and other MDAs.
The aide said Buni had approved the upward review of entry points for veterinary medical officers in the state civil service from CONMESS 2/2 to 3/2, 3/1-4/1, 4/1-5/1, 5/1-6/1 and 6/1-7/1.
“Similarly, the governor approved Consolidated salary Structure to Law officers in the state Ministry of Justice and the placement of judiciary staff on the CONJUSS salary Structure.
“ Gov. Buni said the approvals were aimed at improving the welfare of the beneficiaries who are equally expected to be motivated to serve with great commitment to enhance service delivery.
“To whom much is given, much is equally expected. You should reciprocate this gesture with improved service delivery for the betterment of the state and the people” Gov. Buni emphasised.(NAN)
