Charnwood Borough Council is finalising arrangements to appoint a new operator for its three leisure centres.

The centres have been managed by Fusion Lifestyle since 2011, but the company, which also manages other leisure centres across the country, has entered administration, meaning it cannot continue.

The Council says it is finalising arrangements with Serco Leisure and Leisure Solutions Community Trust to operate its three leisure centres. Leisure Solutions Community Trust is an independent not-for-profit legal entity that partners with Serco Leisure.

Cllr Anne Gray, the Council’s Lead Member for Leisure Facilities, said: “While there are some details still to be finalised, we are keen to keep customers and communities informed about the leisure centres.

“We look forward to finalising the new arrangements and moving the centres into a new phase.

“The centres continue to operate as normal, and there will be much more communication to come around the new operators.

“I am also pleased that thanks to a government grant, work will also soon start on a £3 million investment at Loughborough Leisure Centre to install a new carbon-neutral heating system, demonstrating a commitment to investing in the facilities.”

Ian Phelps, Chair of Leisure Solutions Community Trust, said: “We’re looking forward to working with Charnwood Borough Council to ensure a smooth transition period for both customers and employees at each of the three centres.

“Looking ahead, we will be working to build on the important role these facilities play at the heart of this community, providing high‑quality, inclusive leisure opportunities for residents across the borough and beyond.”

Serco Leisure and Leisure Solutions Community Trust are due to start managing the centres from early July and direct communications with customers will be issued soon. All centres will operate under Serco Leisure’s customer-facing brand – MORE Leisure.
