Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga is set to make his long-awaited return to first-team football for Norwegian club Molde FK this weekend after being cleared of the sexual assault allegation that kept him out of competitive action for the past six months.
Continental News gathered from a reliable source close to the player in Norway that the 19-year-old has been completely vindicated following the conclusion of legal proceedings.
According to the source, all seven judges who presided over the case unanimously found Daga not guilty of the allegation brought against him by a 22-year-old Norwegian woman, Iris Helene Sundberg, with the club publicly publicising it on their Instagram page.
The case had forced the highly-rated Nigerian youngster to step away from first-team football while the judicial process ran its course.
However, despite his absence from competitive matches, Daga remained an active member of Molde’s training sessions throughout the period, maintaining his fitness and staying fully involved with the club’s first-team preparations.
With the legal hurdle now behind him, the talented midfielder is expected to be named in Molde’s squad for this weekend’s fixture, marking the end of a difficult chapter in what has been a promising career.
The verdict comes as a major relief for the former Nigerian youth international, who is widely regarded as one of the country’s brightest emerging football talents. His return will also provide a timely boost for Molde as the club continues its domestic campaign.
Sources close to the player say Daga is now fully focused on football and eager to repay the faith shown in him by the club throughout the challenging period, as he looks to restart his career and continue his development in Norwegian football.
