Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have sustained offensive operations against terrorists in Katsina State, neutralising a key terrorist lieutenant Kachalla Muhammadu Filani and recovering machine guns, arms, ammunition and other items during an ongoing clearance operation.
The operation was conducted on August 29, 2026, in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Theatre Command, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Troops of Sector Two, while conducting clearance operations in an identified terrorist enclave, encountered resistance from armed terrorists.
The Troops responded decisively, engaging the terrorists with superior firepower and forcing them to flee the area.
The statement said subsequent exploitation of the area confirmed the neutralisation of a notorious terrorist leader identified as Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani.
Troops also recovered three machine guns, two AK-47 rifles, eleven magazines, 180 rounds of ammunition and six motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists for their activities.
According to Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the success is part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on terrorist networks and dismantle their operational capabilities across the North West.
The Joint Task Force says that Troops will continue to intensify clearance operations aimed at degrading terrorist networks and restoring peace and security across the region.
