Former two-time world boxing champion Zolani Tete fatally shot

The former two-time world boxing champion, Zolani Tete, has been shot dead in front of his house in Mdantsane near KuGompo city.

The incident reportedly happened around 6:30pm on Friday night.

The 38-year-old boxer was about to make his return to the ring after serving a four-year doping ban.

Tete is a former Junior Bantamweight IBF champion and WBO Bantamweight Champion. Tete holds the record for the fastest knockout in a title fight in boxing, knocking out Siboniso Gonya in 11 seconds of an opening round.

His murder was confirmed to SABC News by his manager, Mlandeli Tenginfene.
