Registration is open for experts worldwide to review the First Order Draft of the Working Group II contribution to the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report (AR7). The Working Group II contribution to AR7 assesses the vulnerability of socio-economic and natural systems to climate change, its consequences, and adaptation options. The authors have prepared the first draft following their Second Lead Author Meeting in May.
Experts interested in participating in the review should register by November 20, 2026, according to the IPCC, adding that the expert review itself would begin on October 9, 2026, and end on December 4, 2026.

The expert review is the first of multiple review stages foreseen for every IPCC report. The review process is critical in preparing IPCC reports, as it reaffirms scientific rigour and ensures that the widest possible range of perspectives are considered.
This is the first opportunity for experts to comment on the Working Group II report draft. All review comments submitted by experts or governments are addressed by the authors. The comments and the authors’ responses, together with the drafts, are published after the report is finalized.
“The impact of climate change is becoming clear all over the world. IPCC is committed to providing a solid and relevant evidence base for all experts, practitioners and communities around the world that are continuously working on climate impacts, adaptation and vulnerability. We would like to invite all working on these issues to review this report and lend your voice to reflect the many critical issues of our time,” said Bart van den Hurk, Co-Chair of Working Group II.
Experts are invited to comment on the accuracy, balance, clarity, and comprehensiveness of the report. They may suggest improvements to the presentation of information, including figures and tables, identify relevant scientific literature with full citations, propose revisions, and recommend ways to improve the clarity and conciseness of the text while preserving its scientific integrity.
“With 20 chapters as well as the IPCC Technical Guidelines for Assessing Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Including Indicators, Metrics and Methodologies – TGIA – our authors worked hard to reflect the wide diversity of topics to present a first draft of this report. The TGIA is highly anticipated by governments and practitioners around the world as a framework to measure and assess the progress of adaptation projects. A report of this depth strongly benefits from comments of global practitioners, and we encourage all to register and engage,” said Winston Chow, Co-Chair of Working Group II.
