The Kano State Government has launched a major ten-year drive to overhaul its schools and boost student performance.
Partnering with the European Union and UNICEF, the state is drafting the 2026-2035 to Strategic Education Sector Plan and Operational Plan.
The initiative builds a decade-long roadmap for sustainable classroom funding, policy reforms, and targeted learning interventions.
The blueprint took centre stage at a stakeholder forum in Bichi.
Representing Governor Abba Yusuf, the Technical Adviser on Education Reform, Haladu Muhammad, affirmed that the state is locking in a ten-year strategy to rebuild crumbling infrastructure and lift educational standards.
UNICEF is backing the massive policy. The Chief of the UNICEF Field Office in Kano, Karanveer Singh, called the strategic planning a decisive turning point that will shape the life and future of every single child in Kano State over the next decade.
Experts from the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, alongside the Kano State Accountability Forum on Education, say this coordinated roadmap is exactly what is needed to slash the high numbers of out-of-school children and upgrade teacher training.
If fully implemented, the ten-year framework will completely modernize classroom delivery and secure long-term human capital development across Kano State.
