Asked Friday about a successor to Leavitt, the youngest person ever to hold the position of White House press secretary, Trump said he had “never had so many job applications in my life.”
Leavitt, who gave birth to her second child in early May, announced on August 12 that she was leaving her position to devote more time to her family.
$850M to support Republicans in midterms
Also on Friday, US President Trump said he is prepared to spend “a lot“ of money from his MAGA Inc. campaign account to support Republican candidates in this midterm.
“Well, I’ve raised a lot, and nobody knows what it is, but I will tell you, it’s about $850 million,“ Trump told reporters.
“I’ll be spending a lot of that money for candidates that I think are good, Republican candidates that I think are good,“ he said.
Trump added that the $850 million was separate from other money raised by his political network.
“So, when you add the 850 million to all of the other money that we’ve raised, we’re in very good shape,“ he said.
