MAINOkoye has praised Udinese’s performance after the Zebras played out a 1-1 draw with Como at the Bluenergy Stadium.
Nigeria international goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has described Udinese’s 1-1 draw against Como as an important result after both teams shared the points in an entertaining Serie A encounter at the Bluenergy Stadium on Saturday.
Okoye started and played the full 90 minutes for the Zebras, producing a number of important saves as Udinese battled to contain a Como side managed by former Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
Although Udinese were unable to secure their first home victory, Okoye believes the point represents a positive outcome against a strong opponent.
Okoye insisted that the result should be viewed positively, particularly given the quality of the opposition.
“It’s an important point. We played against a strong team and we’re happy,” Okoye told the club’s official website.
He added, “We went out there to win, but in the end, a point is great.”
Okoye acknowledged that his saves played a role in helping Udinese secure the result but maintained that the entire team deserved credit for their performance.
He said, “I’m happy to help the team with my saves, but the team played a great game today. We’re all happy.
“Starting again at home in front of our fans is wonderful; they’ve helped us so much. They’re very important to us, we’re grateful to have fans like them.”
