The North West provincial government says funds will be allocated for green enterprises.
Premier Lazarus Mokgosi made these remarks during the two-day Green Youth Indaba held at Sun City on Saturday.
The Green Economy entails businesses that have low carbon emissions.
The 11th annual indaba was held under the theme, “From Youth Innovation to Green Enterprise and Economic Impact”.
It brought among others young people from across the North West and neighbouring provinces, industry leaders and investors, to explore opportunities available in the green economy sector.
Mokgosi elaborates, “Most of our young people may not have had interest on green economy, it’s a new terrain that we believe that besides just learning there is also an opportunity to do business, there is also an opportunity to do innovation and research. We believe strongly that as government we have already made a commitment that we will reinforce budget allocations specifically to deal with entrepreneurship and opportunities for young people who are going to go into the green economy.”
