The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested two suspects, Ishaq Kazeem, 43, and Abubakar Jubril, 41, over the alleged vandalisation, theft, and unlawful removal of electrical materials belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The State Commandant, Abbas Mohammed, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Ilorin, saying the suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation at a mechanic workshop in the Zango area of the state capital, where they were allegedly dismantling electrical materials believed to have been stolen from the TCN Regional Store in Jebba Community, with plans to sell them as scrap.

The Command said exhibits recovered during the operation include two trucks, brand-new and vandalised electrical insulation materials, metal conductor poles, iron bars, a generator, a grinding machine, a sledgehammer, a suspected burnt copper rod, and other electrical components believed to be government property.

However, the suspects denied vandalising or stealing the items, insisting they had lawfully purchased the electrical materials for ₦3 million.

The NSCDC said investigations have been expanded to uncover the entire criminal syndicate behind the alleged vandalisation, arrest other fleeing suspects, and ensure that everyone found culpable is prosecuted in accordance with the law.
