Political parties at the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State have signed the peace and accountability charter designed to steer the state’s political discourse toward issue based campaigns before, during, and after the August 15 governorship election.
The charter was signed during the Osun 2026 Democratic Governance, Peace and Electoral Integrity Summit, organised by Osun Development Association.
Before signing the peace and accountability charter, the political parties present were challenged to comply with the electoral laws and carry out their campaigns based on issues that are crucial to the people of Osun State.
The convener of the peace summit, Osun Development Association, revealed that adherence to the Peace Charter would play a significant role in ensuring a credible and peaceful August 15 Governorship Election in the state
Other stakeholders also present at the event urged all the governorship candidates to convince the Electorate to gain their support through their ideas, competence, and character rather than through intimidation, vote buying, or violence.
The political parties in Osun State were also called to publicly renounce violence and to discipline their members involved in any electoral misconduct.
