Pope to Czech youth: ‘Witness Christ’s love in your families and society’
Pope Leo XIV encourages participants in the National Youth Gathering taking place from August 11–16 in Ostrava, Czech Republic, to ‘turn with confidence to Jesus, who has overcome the world.’

“Welcome with fervour the living presence of Christ and the light of his word, so that you may bear witness to his love in your families, in society and in the various settings of life, work and study.”
Pope Leo XIV gave this advice to participants in the National Youth Meeting, which began in Ostrava, Czech Republic on 11 August, and runs until Sunday 16 August.
More than 3,000 young people between the ages of 14 and 26 are taking part.
In the message signed by Holy See Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and addressed to Archbishop Josef Nuzík, the President of the Czech Bishops’ Conference, the Pope sent his “affectionate greetings” to all the participants.
He “encouraged them to turn with confidence to the Lord Jesus, who has overcome the world.”
“The Saviour,” the Holy Father reiterated, “continues to guide all his disciples on their journey, giving them hope, joy and peace in their hearts.”
The Pope encouraged the young people to bear witness to God’s love in every area of life and society.
Pope Leo assured all of the participants of “a fatherly remembrance in prayer” and imparts his Apostolic Blessing, expressing his hope for “the successful unfolding of the event, an occasion for the birth of new and authentic friendships in the Lord.”
