President Bola Tinubu has expressed delight over the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, commending the security agencies for securing their freedom after 56 days in captivity.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the military, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police for what he described as a coordinated operation that secured the release of the victims without collateral damage.
He also commended the security agencies for arresting eight of the suspected abductors while neutralising others involved in the crime.
Onanuga said President Tinubu acknowledged the pain and anxiety experienced by the victims, their families and the nation since the abduction, describing the successful rescue as a major relief for all concerned.

The President also commended the Oyo State Government for its cooperation with the Federal Government throughout the rescue operation and urged the state to strengthen security around schools to prevent similar incidents.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring justice for the rescued children, their teachers and the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was killed by the abductors during the incident.
He further directed relevant emergency agencies to work with the Oyo State Government to provide the rescued pupils and teachers with immediate medical care, relief materials and other necessary support.
