The Edo State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) and other security stakeholders, has intensified a joint clearance operation across Imiakebu, Okpella and adjoining areas of Edo State as part of sustained efforts to flush out criminal elements and strengthen security along the Edo-Kogi border axis.
The five-day operation, which commenced in the early hours of Sunday, 23rd August 2026, involves coordinated ground and aerial components, with personnel conducting sustained operations across the general area and adjoining locations in Kogi State.
In continuation of the operation on Wednesday, 26th August 2026, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, Patrick Daaor, joined the field operations. He addressed personnel at the Area Command, Auchi, before participating in the aerial component, while ground teams continued operations across the various flanks.
As part of his operational assessment of the area, the Commissioner of Police visited Iyamoh Division, where he presented the division with a brand-new pickup vehicle to enhance mobility, patrol coverage, and operational response within the area.
Daaor also visited Edo State University, Iyamoh, where he met with the Vice-Chancellor and conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the institution’s security arrangements. He further addressed the internal security guards, charging them to remain vigilant and proactive and to promptly report suspicious activities to the Police.
The operation has so far been conducted without casualties, with personnel maintaining sustained pressure across the operational areas.
The commissioner also commended all participating security agencies for their collaboration and assured residents of Edo State, particularly communities within the affected axis, of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
He urged the public to continue providing credible and timely information that will assist the security agencies in completely degrading criminal activities across Edo State.
