Nigerian grassroots side Stars Builders Football Academy have announced a partnership with Greenpeg Engineering ahead of the 2026/27 football season, with both organisations describing the agreement as a long-term investment in youth development and sporting excellence.
The partnership was unveiled on Friday during a signing ceremony at Greenpeg Engineering’s headquarters in Lagos, where officials from both organisations reaffirmed their shared commitment to nurturing young talent and building sustainable success.
Greenpeg Engineering Managing Director, Bolaji Adekunle, said the collaboration was driven by the similarities between the company’s philosophy and the academy’s mission of empowering young people.
“There is a clear connection between engineering and football because both are centred on developing people,” Adekunle said.
“At Greenpeg, we equip young school leavers and professionals with the skills they need to succeed in their careers. Stars Builders are doing something similar through football by creating opportunities for talented young players. Supporting that vision is something we are proud to do.”
Stars Builders Chief Executive Officer, Ayodeji Adegbenro, described the agreement as a significant milestone in the academy’s journey, revealing that the relationship between both parties predates the formal signing by more than two decades.
“This partnership is built on trust and shared values. Although we are signing the agreement today, the relationship actually began about 25 years ago while we were students at the Federal University of Technology, Akure,” Adegbenro said.
“We have always believed that sustainable growth requires the right partners, and Greenpeg Engineering shares our vision of developing young people and building for the future.”
Adegbenro also reiterated the academy’s long-term ambitions, insisting that Stars Builders will continue to prioritise steady development over short-term success.
“Our objective is to grow organically. We want to build a strong foundation and create a club capable of competing consistently at the highest level. We believe the Nigeria Premier Football League is where we belong, and we are working patiently towards that goal.”
Founded in 2021, Stars Builders have rapidly established themselves as one of Nigeria’s emerging football academies. The club won the Ogun State League title in 2022 before earning consecutive promotions to secure a place in the Nationwide League One (NLO).
Beyond domestic success, the academy has continued to produce talents for Nigeria’s youth national teams, with Segun Otusanya featuring for the Flying Eagles under former coach Ladan Bosso, while Suleiman Shehu and Ayodele Adeloye have progressed through the academy before completing moves abroad.
The ceremony concluded with the official unveiling of Stars Builders’ home and away jerseys for the 2026/27 season, with Greenpeg Engineering proudly introduced as the academy’s new front-of-shirt sponsor—a symbol of a partnership both organisations believe will drive sustained growth and success in the years ahead.
