Iran’s top military command has warned that any U.S. attack on Iranian power plants or bridges would prompt a sweeping response against infrastructure across West Asia.
The statement followed President Donald Trump’s remarks that the United States could expand its strikes on Iran next week unless Tehran agrees to negotiate.
Iran earlier launched new attacks on U.S. military bases in Gulf states, while Washington continued overnight strikes on targets inside Iran.
Tehran said it hit sites in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain as a sixth straight day of hostilities strained a preliminary deal aimed at ending the war.
The U.S. military said it carried out a six‑hour wave of strikes in multiple locations to “degrade Iran’s ability to threaten innocent mariners” in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, UN Secretary‑General António Guterres voiced deep concern over the escalating confrontation, urging all sides to “take immediate steps for de‑escalation and return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy”.
Guterres reiterated calls for full restoration of navigational rights in the Strait of Hormuz, a key corridor for global oil and gas shipments.
The International Maritime Organization also appealed for restraint to protect seafarers and preserve freedom of navigation.
