Tinubu hails Olanipekun for Ikere-Ekiti maternity complex donation

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated renowned legal practitioner Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) for donating the Newcruse Mother and Child Maternity Complex to the Ikere-Ekiti community in Ekiti State.

Tinubu, in his commendation, which was contained in a letter he signed, dated May 18, 2026, titled “Salute to Chief Wole Olanipekun, A Remarkable Philanthropist”, described him as “a remarkable philanthropist” whose humanitarian contributions have positively impacted lives across generations.

The President congratulated the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association on what he described as another milestone project added to his numerous contributions to society.

“I congratulate Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) for the donation of this outstanding Newcruse Mother and Child Maternity Complex to the Ikere-Ekiti community. The complex is a new addition to the many impactful projects he has bequeathed to posterity in different spheres,” Tinubu stated.

He described Olanipekun as a public-spirited Nigerian who has consistently used his personal resources to improve the lives of others and support community development.

“Chief Olanipekun has been a shining example of public-spirited Nigerians who continue to use their personal resources to uplift people and communities, creating generational and lasting goodwill,” he said.

He also lauded Olanipekun’s achievements in the legal profession and his commitment to humanitarian causes, noting that his contributions have earned him national and international recognition.

“As a senior lawyer and community leader, a son of Ikere and a citizen of Nigeria, he has excelled beyond the imagination of any human being. He is a leading light of the legal profession in Nigeria and around the world, a worthy example of a patriot, giver and a humanist,” the President added.

According to Tinubu, the Newcruse Mother and Child Maternity Complex represents a continuation of decades of philanthropic efforts by Olanipekun and his family aimed at improving healthcare and human development.

He also commended the activities of the Wole Olanipekun Foundation, particularly its scholarship schemes for undergraduates and law students, as well as empowerment initiatives targeted at vulnerable persons.

“I am particularly happy to know the extent and level of the Wole Olanipekun Foundation’s impact in advancing human development through scholarships to deserving undergraduates and Law Students, and in social empowerment of the poor and vulnerable among us,” Tinubu said.

The President also highlighted Olanipekun’s investment in education and his role in promoting social integration and inclusion within Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, and Nigeria at large.

Describing the maternity complex as “a state-of-the-art facility built to provide first-rate service,” Tinubu urged the Ekiti State Government and residents of Ikere-Ekiti to ensure its proper maintenance and sustainability.

“My charge to the government of Ekiti State and the people of Ikere is to take ownership, ensure proper use, and preserve the facility for continuous improvement and a centre of medical excellence for the present and future generation,” the President stated.
