MAINTroops of the Joint Task Force, North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised two terrorists and recovered two AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles following a fierce encounter with terrorists in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West Operations, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation followed credible intelligence received in the early hours of August 28, 2026, about the movement of terrorists conveying hundreds of rustled cattle through the Maikujera area of Rabah Local Government Area.
Acting on the intelligence, troops of Sector Two swiftly mobilised to intercept the terrorists and prevent the movement of the rustled cattle.
While advancing towards the identified location, the troops reportedly came under an ambush staged by the terrorists.
The troops responded with superior firepower, successfully fighting through the ambush and neutralising two terrorists while forcing others to flee into the surrounding bushes.
A subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
The Joint Task Force says the area has since remained calm and stable, as troops continue to dominate the environment and maintain heightened vigilance to prevent further terrorist activities.
The operation highlights the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities and restore security across the North-West.
