Vatican publishes Pope Leo’s programme in San Marino and Rimini
The Holy See Press Office publishes the programme of the pastoral visit that Pope Leo XIV will make to the Republic of San Marino and Rimini on 22 August.

The Holy See Press Office published the official programme today of Pope Leo XIV’s pastoral visit on 22 August.
It is brief but packed with appointments that will take him to the Republic of San Marino and Rimini, including a stop at the Meeting for Friendship among Peoples, the traditional gathering organised by Communion and Liberation in the city in Italy’s Romagna region from 21 to 26 August under the title The love that moves the sun and the other stars.
San Marino: meetings with the authorities and Eucharistic Adoration in the Basilica
The Pope is scheduled to depart at 8 a.m. from the Vatican heliport. After an hour’s flight, he will land at Torraccia Airfield in the Republic of San Marino and travel to Piazza della Libertà.
At the Public Palace, he will meet with the Secretaries of State, followed by a private meeting with the Captains Regent in the Council Chamber of the Twelve. There, he will sign the Book of Distinguished Guests.
At 10:40 a.m., he will meet with members of the Great and General Council in the Council Chamber. Afterwards, from the central balcony of the Public Palace, the Pope will greet those gathered in the square and impart his Apostolic Blessing.
He will then travel to the Basilica of San Marino, where he will be welcomed by Bishop Domenico Beneventi, Bishop of San Marino-Montefeltro, and the Rector, Fr Marco Mazzanti. Eucharistic Adoration will take place, together with the veneration of the relics of St Marinus, in the presence of priests, consecrated persons and representatives of the Diocese’s ecclesial life.
At 12:15 p.m., he will greet the faithful in the square and bid farewell to the authorities.
Private visit to the Augustinian nuns in Pennabilli
In a strictly private capacity, Pope Leo XIV will also visit the community of the Monastery of St Anthony of Padua of the Augustinian Nuns in Pennabilli.
During the Second World War, the nuns responded to the atrocities of the war by opening their doors to two communities of religious women whom the Germans intended to deport to Germany, as well as to the young girls from families displaced from Rimini.
Today, the community consists of 11 solemnly professed nuns, two temporarily professed nuns and one novice.
It was Robert F. Prevost, then Prior General of the Order, who in November 2012 approved the transfer of four religious sisters from the Augustinian Monastery of Lecceto in Siena to Pennabilli, making the presence of these contemplative women in the area even more significant.
Rimini Meeting: exhibitions on Augustine and Harmel, encounter with people living in poverty, and Mass at the Port
The papal helicopter is scheduled to land at the Rimini Expo Centre at 2:45 p.m.
The Pope will visit two exhibitions: one on St Augustine and the other on Léon Harmel. He will also stop at the Children’s Village, where he will greet participants in the Meeting.
This will be followed at 4 p.m. by a meeting in the Grand Auditorium. Pope Leo XIV is expected to arrive at Rimini Cathedral at 5:30 p.m., where he will meet sick people, persons with disabilities and people living in poverty assisted by Caritas.
He will then travel to the Port Square, where he will preside over Mass at 6:30 p.m.
The visit will conclude at 8 p.m, and at 9 p.m., the Pope will return to the Vatican.
