Trump Says Netanyahu to Visit U.S. Next Week Amid Iran War

U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit Washington next week for high-level talks, as the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran enters its fifth month.

Trump made the announcement during his remarks at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Friday, where he also joked about Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer while referring to the upcoming visit.

Trump Announces White House Meeting

Speaking at the event, Trump said Netanyahu would be in Washington next week.

“I am going to send him a beautiful Palestinian outfit tomorrow, so he can greet Bibi Netanyahu when he comes to town next week,” Trump said, referring to Schumer.

Trump repeated his criticism of Schumer, saying the New York senator had “turned Palestinian” and joking that Sharia law was his “new founding.”

The remarks drew attention because Trump has previously used the term “Palestinian” as a political insult against Schumer, who is Jewish. Muslim and Jewish advocacy groups have criticised those comments in the past, saying the term was being used in a derogatory manner.

Netanyahu’s Itinerary

Earlier, Netanyahu’s office confirmed that he will travel to Washington on Monday and meet Trump at the White House on Tuesday.

In addition to the meeting, Netanyahu is also scheduled to attend the funeral of late U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, according to his office.

Talks Expected to Focus on Iran Conflict

The Trump-Netanyahu meeting comes as the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran reaches its fifth month, with regional security expected to dominate discussions.

The visit follows continued military operations and heightened tensions across the Middle East, making it one of the most significant diplomatic engagements between Washington and Jerusalem in recent months.

The White House has not released a detailed agenda for the meeting, but the leaders are expected to discuss the evolving conflict with Iran, regional security and broader strategic cooperation between the United States and Israel.
