Archbishop Gallagher in Pakistan to mark 75 years of ties with Holy See

The Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations is in Islamabad from 8 to 10 October. He will meet with political and religious authorities, the country’s bishops and visit the Faisal Mosque.

The visit of Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations, to Pakistan begins today, 8 October, and runs through Saturday, 10 October.

The Archbishop is travelling to Islamabad to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, as well as to strengthen their shared commitment to peace and cooperation.

Programme

According to the programme released by @TerzaLoggia, the Secretariat of State’s account on X, Archbishop Gallagher is meeting today with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

On Thursday, the Archbishop will meet with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Pakistan and take part in a conference marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Pakistan.

On Friday, the final day of his visit, the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations will celebrate Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Islamabad. He will then visit the Faisal Mosque and meet with religious leaders.
