The Benue State Police Command has intensified efforts to tackle kidnapping and banditry in Benue South, following another foiled attack on Ankpachi-Oglewu community in Ohimini Local Government Area.
Police Commissioner Cletus Nwadiaogbu led a tactical operation into the notorious Idekpa Forest, vowing to flush out criminal elements.
It would have been yet another day of sorrow here in Ankpachi-Oglewu community of Ohimini Local Government Area but for security operatives who responded swiftly to intelligence about the movement of suspected armed bandits.
Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiaogbu, said officers deployed along the Otukpo–Ohimini corridor repelled the attackers before they could carry out their mission.
The police team later moved into the Idekpa Forest, a known hideout for kidnappers and armed bandits, to conduct a clearance operation aimed at dismantling criminal camps.
Despite the difficult terrain, the Commissioner assured residents that security operations would continue until the forest is cleared of criminal elements.
Residents welcomed the operation, expressing hope that sustained security presence would end recurring cases of kidnapping and armed attacks in the area.
The operation concluded with drone surveillance of the forest as the Police Commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tracking down criminal hideouts and restoring lasting peace to the affected communities.
