Deputy President Paul Mashatile will be in the hot seat this Thursday afternoon when he answers oral questions in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).
Among others, he will be asked if he, as the chairperson of the Justice, Crime-Prevention and Security Cabinet Committee, will outline any corrective actions to the committee implemented prior to the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, to detect and prevent corruption in the police service, especially since the July 2021 unrest.
Mashatile is also expected to field questions about Operation Prosper, the deployment of the Defence Force to gang and drug-ridden areas as well as areas where illegal mining is problematic.
The Deputy President visited Mitchell’s Plain, just outside Cape Town, recently, one of the areas affected by gang violence.
