Russia and Ukraine have each released 185 prisoners of war in a fresh exchange facilitated by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Ms Daria Senyushina, Communications Officer at the Russian Embassy in Nigeria, disclosed this in an interview on Saturday.
She said 185 Russian servicemen were returned from Ukrainian-controlled territory, while 185 Ukrainian prisoners of war were released in exchange.
According to her, the UAE provided humanitarian mediation that enabled the successful swap and the return of Russian servicemen from captivity.
“The returned Russian servicemen are currently in the Republic of Belarus, where they are receiving support and assistance,” she said.
She added that after receiving psychological and medical care, the personnel would be transferred to the Russian Federation for further treatment and rehabilitation under the Russian Ministry of Defence.
Senyushina also noted that those returned included soldiers, officers, and a civilian who had been held in captivity.
