Youngsters in Charnwood are being offered the chance to take part in a range of free outdoor activities this summer.
Active Charnwood, the sport and recreation team at Charnwood Borough Council, will be putting on five Summer Roadshows between Wednesday, 22 July, and Wednesday, 12 August, at different venues across the borough.
The events mark an opportunity for families to come together to enjoy their local green spaces, children to take part in sports and games, and for parents to learn about the wider health and wellbeing services available in Charnwood.
Cllr Liz Blackshaw, the Council’s Lead Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, said: “It’s great to see the return of these roadshows, which offer a fantastic opportunity for families to come together during the summer holidays and enjoy our beautiful parks and open spaces.
“They will be a superb way for young people to get involved in fun, engaging activities, while also giving parents the chance to learn more about the wide range of health and wellbeing services available locally.
“We are proud to support events like these that strengthen community connections and promote active, healthy lifestyles for all.”
The dates and locations for the roadshows are:
All roadshows will take place from midday until 3pm and are free to attend. Families can just turn up on the day – no booking is required.
There will be activities on offer for a range of age groups, including football, cricket, multi-sports and team building. There will also be bike maintenance checks, health advice and a recycling project.
Providers supporting the events alongside the Active Charnwood team include Leicester City in the Community, Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Foundation.
A range of Charnwood-based sport and wellbeing services will also be making appearances at the roadshows, including VitaMinds, 2 Wheels Campus, Sense Charity, Loughborough Rugby Club.
Please note that not all providers will be at every roadshow.
