PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the Osun State governorship election.
They all commended the people of Osun state, especially the electorate, for participating in the process and exercising their rights.
Tinubu stated in his congratulatory message on X that he phoned Adeleke following the outcome of the poll.
“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” he said.
The president urged the governor to unify the state for social and economic progress. He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for managing the election.
“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” he added.
Similarly, in a statement on X, Obi congratulated Adeleke and the electorate in Osun, highlighting the role of voters and young people during the exercise.
“I warmly congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election and the good people of Osun State on this important democratic victory. They – Osun people – have spoken with courage and clarity, reaffirming that the power to choose their leaders belongs to the people,” Obi stated.
He also called on political actors to prioritise the interests of citizens and respect the democratic process as 2027 elections approach.
“This is also a clarion call as we approach 2027. Nigerians must remain informed, participate actively, vote, and protect their votes,” he noted.
In his remarks, the former vice president commended Adeleke and the people of Osun State for their conduct during the exercise.
“His victory demonstrates the choice of the people of Osun as expressed at the ballot box. I commend the people for their passion and peaceful participation. I wish Governor Adeleke continued success as he continues to serve them,” Abubakar said.
