Two Women Injured, Nine Rescued As Troops Foil Zamfara Abduction Attempt

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled an attempted mass abduction by terrorists in Unguwar Rogo village, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, rescuing nine civilians, including an infant.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Lieutenant Aliyu Danja, the incident occurred on August 16, 2026, when terrorists, led by a suspected kingpin, Mallam Shuaibu, infiltrated the community and attacked civilians travelling along a local route.

Following a distress call, troops swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists, preventing them from carrying out the planned mass abduction.

The superior firepower of the troops reportedly forced the terrorists to retreat, leading to the rescue of nine civilians, including an infant.

Two women sustained injuries during the attack and were also rescued.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in the statemen, reaffirmed its determination to deny terrorists and other criminal elements the freedom to attack innocent citizens across the North-West.
