WAFCON 2026: Malawi captain begs Super Falcons for mercy ahead Group C clash

Tabitha Chawinga has jokingly pleaded with the Super Falcons not to inflict a heavy defeat on Malawi at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.

The Scorchers, who will be making their debut at the tournament, will face the defending champions in their opening fixture at the Al Madina Stadium, Rabat on Tuesday, 28 August.

It will be the first-ever meeting between both countries.

The Super Falcons are overwhelming favourites to win the contest.

Chawinga, who is the captain of the Malawi team, want Justine Madugu’s side to take things easy against them.

“Super Falcons need to calm down. Do not give us 5-0, please. 1-0 is enough,” Chawinga, who plays for French club, Olympic Lyon said during a webinar organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
