13 Residents Killed In Benue By Suspected Herdsmen Receive Mass Burial

No fewer than 13 residents of Efeyi community in Otukpo local government area of Benue State killed by suspected armed herdsmen were laid to rest in an emotional mass burial.

Grieving family members and sympathisers trooped out early on Saturday to bid them farewell.

Lying in white caskets, the victims were laid down after prayers were offered.

A resident of Otukpo local government, who identified himself as Ebute Samson told LEADERSHIP that the community had never witnessed such killings before, calling on the federal government to establish Army barracks in the area he said,  “Tears were flowing like water in the river. We bid them goodbye. Government must do something about the security of Benue South as quick as possible. The government should locate Army barracks in Benue South”

The deadly attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 28th July, 2026, at Efeyi Ugboju Community, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State when the assailants invaded the area.

The Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Peter Aondongu, had confirmed the killing of 13 farmers during the attack.
