Author unveils books to advance children’s development

A Nigerian author and youth advocate based in the United Kingdom, Itoro-Abigeal Oyewobi, has launched three books aimed at supporting children, teenagers, and adults in their personal, educational, and professional development.
The books were unveiled on Wednesday at the Civic Triple Book Launch and Charity Fundraiser held at Jubilee Crescent Community Centre in Coventry, according to a statement made available to The PUNCH on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, Oyewobi said the three books were designed as a connected learning journey covering childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.
Oyewobi said the books were written to prepare children and youths for the diverse phases of life.
She noted that readiness should be regarded as a lifelong process rather than a one-time achievement.
“These three books speak to different generations, but they are united by one central message: readiness is not about knowing everything or never experiencing difficulty. It is about developing the confidence, knowledge, resilience, and willingness to keep learning,” she said.
She noted that the first book, My Ready Helper, was targeted at children aged eight to 12 and focused on confidence, emotions, friendship, responsibility, and identity, while The Prepared Teen, for teenagers aged 13 to 18, addressed resilience, communication, goal-setting, emotional wellbeing and responsible decision-making.
She added that the third book, EdgeCraft, focuses on adults and the changing world of work, encouraging adaptability, continuous learning, sound judgement, meaningful relationships, and value creation.
Oyewobi pledged to donate 100 per cent of her authorship royalties from the three books to support the beneficiary charities and grassroots community initiatives.
She said the initiative was intended to ensure that the books would contribute both to readers’ personal development and to the welfare of vulnerable people in the community.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of giant cheques to Tiny Tim’s Children’s Centre, Coventry and Warwickshire Mind, and Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire.
The statement noted that the event was graced by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Coventry, Julia Lepoidevin, and the Member of Parliament for Coventry North West, Taiwo Owatemi, among other stakeholders.
