Heirs Energies CEO to champion Africa’s energy sufficiency at Gastech 2026 – EnviroNews

The Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Energies Limited, Osa Igiehon, is set to join global energy leaders at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, where he will advocate a decisive shift for Africa from energy deficiency to energy sufficiency.
Igiehon will participate in high-level discussions focused on practical solutions to the global challenge of delivering secure, affordable and reliable energy to support economic growth and industrial development.
According to Heirs Energies, the company’s CEO will use the global platform to demonstrate how African-led energy companies can transform the continent’s natural resources into electricity, industrial capacity, employment opportunities and sustainable economic value.
Igiehon’s participation will include the opening ceremony of Gastech 2026 on Monday, September 14, where he will join senior government and industry leaders to set the agenda for discussions around energy security, investment, innovation and credible energy-transition pathways.
The conference is taking place at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC).
On Tuesday, September 15, Igiehon will participate in a session titled, “Power for All: Delivering Universal Energy Access in an Electrifying World,” at the Electrification Theatre.
The session, scheduled for 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. Thailand time, will examine strategies for expanding universal access to reliable electricity, including the integration of natural gas, renewable energy, energy storage, stronger electricity grids and distributed energy systems.
Igiehon will also participate in a session titled, “Rising Economies, Rising Demand: How the Next Industrial Age Gets Powered,” on Wednesday, September 16, at the Energy Impact Theatre.
The session, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., will focus on how emerging economies can translate rising energy demand into bankable infrastructure investments and leverage reliable energy supplies to accelerate industrialisation.
Heirs Energies said Igiehon would bring a perspective anchored in practical delivery and the company’s operational experience in Nigeria’s energy sector.
Under his leadership, the company has increased oil production from approximately 27,000 barrels per day to nearly 60,000 barrels per day, while tripling its gas production.
The company said all of its gas production is directed to the Nigerian domestic market, supporting electricity generation and industrial activities.
The company’s expansion, it added, demonstrates the potential for African energy operators to contribute not only to meeting domestic energy needs but also to broader economic transformation through increased investment, production and industrial development.
Igiehon’s participation at Gastech 2026 is therefore expected to highlight Africa’s position as more than a source of energy resources, but as a continent with the capacity to develop, operate and finance energy infrastructure while creating jobs and driving economic growth.
Heirs Energies said his engagements would reinforce the need for energy solutions that recognise Africa’s development priorities while contributing meaningfully to the future of the global energy system.
The company’s participation comes amid growing calls for greater investment in Africa’s energy infrastructure to address persistent electricity deficits and support industrialisation, economic expansion and improved living standards across the continent.
