Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has carried out an on-the-spot assessment of a bridge at Alakija, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, leading into Festac Town, following a viral video showing suspected vandalism at the facility.
Governor Sanwo-Olu at the inspection of the facility, described the development as unacceptable and an attempt to frustrate government projects, while assuring residents that the structural integrity of the bridge remains intact and that there is no cause for alarm.
He commended the Lagos State Police Command, Rapid Response Squad, Neighbourhood Watch and other security agencies for responding swiftly to the incident.
The Governor condemned the vandalism, warning that the government would go after both those stealing public infrastructure and those buying the stolen materials.
